First upload: add version one by hand

Updated October 14, 2026

Google only lets an app's very first version be added by hand. You do it once. Every later version goes up automatically.

  1. Start your first build. When it is done, your app shows Needs your upload.
  2. On the Builds tab, press Download .aab.
  3. In Play Console open your app → Test and release → Internal testing → Create new release.
  4. Drop the .aab file in, then review and roll out the release.

From the next build on, StoreReady uploads every new version to Google Play for you.

Built files are kept for 30 days, so you can download them again later.
