Answer Google Play's App content questions

Updated October 21, 2026

Before Google reviews your app for the first time, it asks a set of questions about it, under App content. Only you know the answers, so StoreReady can't fill them in for you. About 15 minutes, once per app. The answers carry over to every later version.

Where to find them

  1. Open Play Console and click your app.
  2. In the menu on the left open Policy and programs, then App content.
  3. Each item has a Start or Manage button. Open it, answer, press Save. A done item moves to the Actioned tab.

The Dashboard of your app shows the same list under Set up your app, with a link to each one.

The questions

  • Privacy policy. A link to your privacy policy. Every app needs one.
  • App access. Does any part of the app need a sign-in? Choose All or some functionality is restricted and give Google a username and password that work, with a short note on how to sign in. Google turns down apps it can't get into.
  • Ads. Does the app show ads? Answer Yes if you turned on StoreReady's AdMob ads, or if your own code shows any.
  • Advertising ID. Asked when the app could use Android's advertising ID. With ads turned on, answer Yes and tick Advertising or marketing. Without ads, most apps answer No.
  • Content rating. Press Start questionnaire, add your email, pick the category that fits (for most apps All Other App Types) and answer the questions about what's in the app. Press Submit. You get ratings for every country at once.
  • Target audience and content. The ages your app is for. Pick 18 and over unless it's made for children. Ticking younger ages brings Google's extra rules for kids' apps.
  • Data safety. What data the app collects or shares, and why. Use the same answers as Apple's App Privacy. A sign-up with email means Personal info → Email address, collected for App functionality and Account management.
  • Government apps, financial features, health apps, news apps. Answer No to any that don't apply.

You may see other items, like permissions your app asks for. Each one explains what it wants in a sentence or two. Not sure? Write to help@storeready.app.

Then the store settings

  1. Open Grow users → Store presence → Store settings.
  2. Pick an App category and add a contact email. Press Save.

The main store listing, with the texts and screenshots, comes from your app's Store listing tab in StoreReady. See Your store listing.

Good to know

  • Answer honestly. Google checks the app against your answers. Data safety answers that don't match what the app does are a common reason for a rejection.
  • Changed your app? Update the answers in App content when the app starts collecting something new or shows ads for the first time.
