Connect App Store Connect to StoreReady
Updated October 21, 2026
StoreReady talks to Apple with an App Store Connect API key. With it we register your App ID, make your signing certificate and profile, upload your builds, send them to testers and fill in your store listing. About 5 minutes. Setup's Apple step walks you through the same clicks.
You need an Apple Developer account first. Sign in with its Apple ID. Only the Account Holder or an Admin of the team can make this key.
1. Open the keys page
- Open App Store Connect → Users and Access → Integrations.
- On the left, pick App Store Connect API.
- Stay on the Team Keys tab, not Individual Keys.
- The first time, Apple shows Request Access. Only the Account Holder can press it. Accept the terms and access turns on right away. After that, Admins can make keys too.
2. Make the key
- Press the + button next to Active. With no keys yet, the button says Generate API Key.
- Name the key
StoreReady. - For access choose Admin. StoreReady needs it to make the signing certificate and profile for your app.
- Press Generate.
3. Download it and copy two values
- In the new key's row, press Download, then Download again in Apple's dialog. The file is named like
AuthKey_2X9R4HXF34.p8. Apple lets you download it only once. If you lose it, revoke the key and make a new one. - Copy the Issuer ID. It sits above the list of keys.
- Copy the Key ID. It is in your key's row, 10 letters and numbers, and also in the file name right after
AuthKey_.
4. Add it to StoreReady
- In setup's Apple step, or later in your app's Settings → Stores, drop in the .p8 file.
- Paste the Issuer ID and the Key ID.
- Press Check connection. We ask Apple right away and tell you if something is off.
The key is stored encrypted and only used for your apps. To take access away, revoke the key on the same Apple page.
If Apple doesn't accept the key
- "Apple did not accept this key." The Issuer ID or the Key ID belongs to another key. Copy both again from the keys page and check the Key ID matches the file name.
- "This key cannot make the signing certificate for your app." The key has a lower role than Admin, or it is an Individual key. Make a new key on the Team Keys tab with Admin access and use that one.
- "The App ID is already taken by another Apple account." Someone else registered that App ID. Pick a different one in setup.
- Apple says you have too many certificates. See Signing certificates and Apple's certificate limit.
- No Integrations tab, or Request Access is greyed out. You are not the Account Holder or an Admin. Ask the Account Holder to make the key, or to give you the Admin role in Users and Access.
