Build a new version

Updated October 15, 2026

On your app's Builds tab, press New build (or Start first build).

  1. Platforms. iOS, Android or both. iOS needs your Apple account connected and the app created in App Store Connect. Expo apps build for Android only.
  2. Version. The version people see in the store, like 1.0.1. We suggest the next one.
  3. What changed? A short note. It becomes the release notes.
  4. Press Start build.

We take the latest version of your project, make it native, sign it and send it to the stores. On Google Play it goes to review. On the App Store it lands in TestFlight, ready to submit. You can follow every step live: preparing your app, building, signing and uploading. A build usually takes a few minutes.

Good to know

  • One build runs per app at a time.
  • You can cancel a running build. A cancelled build doesn't count toward your builds.
  • Open the log under a build to see exactly what happened.
  • If a build is ready but didn't reach Google Play, Download .aab gives you the file. Built files are kept for 30 days.
