Ads in your app

Updated October 16, 2026

Your app can show Google AdMob ads: a banner, and full-screen ads between pages if you want them. Ads are on every StoreReady plan at no extra cost, and StoreReady takes no share. The money goes straight to your own AdMob account.

The quickest way: ask your AI tool

Press Set it up with AI in the Ads section, copy the request and send it to Claude Code, Codex or Cursor with StoreReady connected (see Publish from Claude Code, Codex or Cursor). It walks you through everything below and does the technical parts. Or follow the steps yourself.

1. Try it first

No AdMob account needed for this.

  1. In your app's Settings → Native features, turn on Ads.
  2. Under How to start, choose Try it first.
  3. Under What to show, choose A banner, Full-screen ads or both.
  4. Press Save and start a new build. See Build a new version.

Your app now shows Google's sample ads, marked "Test Ad". They look like real ads but earn nothing.

2. Earn money

About 10 minutes. Google checks a new AdMob account before it pays out, which can take a day or two.

  1. Under How to start, choose Earn money. The steps and fields appear right there.
  2. Open admob.google.com and sign in with your Google account. AdMob is free.
  3. Click Apps, then Add app, and pick iOS or Android. If your app isn't in the store yet, say so: you link it later.
  4. Copy the App ID from the app's settings page. It has a ~ in the middle. Paste it under your platform.
  5. Click Ad units, then Add ad unit, pick Banner and copy its ID. It has a / in the middle. For full-screen ads, add an Interstitial ad unit too.
  6. Do the same for the other platform. Each one shows Ready to earn once it has what it needs.
  7. Press Save and start a new build.

You can paste the whole line from AdMob. StoreReady takes the ID out of it.

How the ads behave

  • Banner. At the bottom of the screen, above the tab bar if you have one. The page makes room for it, so it never covers your content. It steps aside while someone types, when a dialog is open and while the app is locked.
  • Full-screen ads. Between pages, every 3 to 20 page changes as you choose, and never twice in a minute. Or choose Only when my app asks to show them from your code.
  • Pages without ads. Under More options, list pages that should stay ad-free, like /checkout. Pages inside them are ad-free too.
  • Banner position. Bottom by default. Top is in More options. A header fixed to the top of your page can end up under a top banner.

The app asks for consent where the law requires it. People in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland see Google's consent form first, and no ads load until they answer. On iPhone, the app then shows Apple's prompt to allow tracking. You can turn that prompt off in More options. Ads still show without it, just less tailored.

Before you release

  1. Publish a consent message. In AdMob, open Privacy & messaging and publish a message for European regulations. Without it, Google shows no ads in Europe and the UK.
  2. app-ads.txt. Nothing to do if your store listing has no website of your own: your free app page is the app's website, and storeready.app/app-ads.txt already lists your ads. With your own website, StoreReady shows you the exact line once you add an app ID. Put it in a file called app-ads.txt at the root of that website, like yoursite.com/app-ads.txt.
  3. Google Play. In Play Console, under App content, answer that the app contains ads and uses the advertising ID.
  4. App Store. In App Store Connect, under App Privacy, add Device ID and Advertising Data, used for third-party advertising.
  5. An Ad choices link. People in Europe need a way to change their choice. Press Add it with AI in the checklist and paste the request where you build your app.

Ads in your app's features

A reward for watching an ad, a full-screen ad at the right moment, or no ads for people who pay. Open More options → Use ads in your app's features, press Add with AI and copy the request into Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or whatever you build with. Your AI tool writes the code. A reward also needs a Rewarded ad unit ID, under the same option.

For developers: the app has window.StoreReady.ads with showRewarded(), showInterstitial(), off(), on(), hideBanner() and showBanner(), and a link to #storeready-ad-choices opens Google's privacy form.

Troubleshooting

  • No ads at all, test ads off. A new AdMob account or ad unit can take an hour or more to start serving. New apps often get few ads at first.
  • No ads for people in Europe. Publish the consent message (step 1 above).
  • Your app already uses AdMob through its own Capacitor setup. We keep yours and don't add ours.
  • Expo apps. Use react-native-google-mobile-ads in your app. StoreReady's ads are made for web apps.
